Tom Blyth: From Hunger Games Star to Rom-Com Leading Man
Rising Star Makes Major Career Move
Fast-rising English star Tom Blyth has signed with CAA, marking a significant milestone in the 30-year-old actor’s burgeoning career. This professional development comes as Blyth can currently be seen starring opposite Emily Bader in Netflix, Temple Hill and 3000 Pictures’ hit rom-com People We Meet on Vacation, based on the New York Times bestselling novel from Emily Henry. The film has proven to be a massive success, with the film debuted to 17.2 million views over its launch weekend in early January, as the No. 1 film on the English-language Top 10 movie list.
Breaking Out of Dramatic Roles
Blyth’s latest project represents a deliberate shift in his career trajectory. Blyth broke out internationally with a starring role in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which launched in the fall of 2023 and went on to gross over $349 million worldwide. In that film, the actor played a young Coriolanus Snow, a role which originated and was made famous by Donald Sutherland. However, the actor was eager for a change of pace. “I was just eager to do something light and fun, and a bit sexy,” he said in an interview with People in January. “I’ve been doing a lot of serious films back-to-back. So I was ready for something a bit more light.”
Exciting Projects on the Horizon
Beyond his Netflix success, Blyth has several projects lined up. On February 20, Blyth will be seen starring opposite David Jonsson in the gritty prison drama Wasteman from writer-director Cal McMau for Bankside and Lionsgate UK. For his work on the film, he’s received a British Independent Film Award nomination in the category of Best Supporting Performance. Additionally upcoming, he stars opposite Matt Dillon in the Claire Denis drama The Fence. Then, there’s Watch Dogs, New Regency’s adaptation of the hit Ubisoft video game, where he stars alongside Sophie Wilde.
A Bright Future Ahead
For fans hoping to see Blyth return to the Hunger Games franchise, “I am not involved in the new one. Sorry to disappoint. But who knows if it’s the end of Coriolanus’s story, in terms of my track. We always take Suzanne Collins as lead. Lionsgate doesn’t make the films without her making the book first”. With his CAA signing and diverse slate of upcoming projects, Tom Blyth is proving himself to be one of the most versatile and in-demand actors of his generation, successfully transitioning between blockbuster franchises, independent dramas, and romantic comedies.
