Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has secured his future with the team, agreeing to a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension, which includes a player option in 2028. This landmark deal comes after one of the most dramatic trades in NBA history.

The basketball world was stunned when, on February 1-2, 2025, Dončić was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis in a three-team deal involving the Utah Jazz. Performance and Impact

In his first season split between the Mavericks and Lakers, Dončić averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists in a career-low 50 games.
