Road Closures and Police Investigation

Inshes Road, a busy through road connecting Milton of Leys to Sir Walter Scott Drive, is closed, as too is Strathspey Place. Uniformed officers and CID responded to the incident near Inshes Road, with forensic officers have been seen removing evidence bags from the property throughout the day. Detectives have been making door-to-door inquiries in the area as part of the ongoing investigation.

Community Reaction and Police Statement

The incident has shocked the residential neighbourhood. Residents on the street were ‘shocked’ to see the police response this morning. Milton of Leys is an area of the city of Inverness in the Highland council area of Scotland. It lies on high ground overlooking the Moray Firth, 3 miles southeast of the city centre, and since the 1990s, Milton of Leys has developed largely as a residential settlement.

Detective Inspector Caroline MacKay said: ‘A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death and extensive inquiries are ongoing’. Additional patrols are being carried out in the area to provide public reassurance and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.

Significance for the Community

This tragic incident has brought heightened police presence to what is typically a quiet, family-oriented neighbourhood in Inverness. The ongoing investigation underscores the importance of community cooperation with authorities as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any information that may assist the investigation to Police Scotland.
