Kulusevski Shares Optimistic Recovery Timeline as Tottenham Navigate Creative Crisis

Latest Development in Kulusevski’s Recovery Journey
Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski has been sidelined since May 2025 after suffering an injury to his right patella that required surgery, causing him to miss Spurs’ Europa League final victory over Manchester United.
In a recent interview, the Swedish international provided an encouraging update on his condition, stating: ‘The status is good. The rehab is going well. Every day I wake up with the same hunger and even more hunger with each passing day.’ He expressed confidence about his return, suggesting he could be back on the pitch ‘in two to three months.’
Impact on Tottenham’s Season
Prior to his injury, Kulusevski was a crucial figure for Tottenham, contributing 10 goals and 11 assists in 50 games across all competitions last season. His absence has been particularly challenging for Spurs, especially in matches requiring creativity against deep defensive lines.
The situation has been further complicated by James Maddison’s ACL injury, though the club has strengthened their options with the addition of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. While manager Thomas Frank sees Simons as versatile enough to play on the left, he is expected to primarily operate as a number ten until Kulusevski’s return.
Recovery Process and Future Outlook
Despite being unable to play, Kulusevski has maintained his involvement with the Swedish national team, joining the squad for recent World Cup qualifiers to show his support. His leadership qualities have earned praise from teammates, with Sweden winger Ken Sema labelling him ‘an incredible leader’.
According to injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, Kulusevski is not expected to return to individual training until mid-December, and it may take additional weeks after his return to action for him to regain full match fitness.
