2XKO Closed Beta Launch: Riot Games Unveils New Era in Fighting Games

A New Chapter in Fighting Games
2XKO, originally introduced as Project L, represents Riot Games’ first venture into the fighting game genre. The title combines familiar League of Legends champions with fast-paced, team-based fighting mechanics designed to appeal to both casual players and competitive veterans.
Closed Beta Details
The closed beta launches on September 9, 2025, at 11 AM PT, with Riot adopting a straightforward approach: once the servers are up, they’re staying up, barring maintenance emergencies.
During the closed beta, players will have immediate access to Ahri, Braum, Darius, Ekko, Illaoi, and Yasuo. Three additional champions – Jinx, Blitzcrank, and Vi – can be unlocked using Champion Tokens (earned from completing the First Fight tutorial) or Credits (earned from completing missions).
Gameplay and Features
The closed beta marks a significant milestone for Riot’s 2v2 fighter, introducing extensive gameplay changes, champion reworks, and long-requested features including match replays and offline tournament modes. The update brings damage boosts, meter system overhauls, and streamlined unlocks, with PC players getting first access.
Future Prospects
While the closed beta is exclusively available for PC, Riot Games aims to fully launch 2XKO on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC in 2025. This beta phase marks the beginning of the game’s full rollout, with plans to gradually expand the player base until everyone is included.
The game will remain online “from here on out,” and players who have previously participated in the closed alpha version won’t need to reapply for access. Additionally, current players can invite their friends to join the experience.
