Black Sabbath’s Historic Final Concert Marks End of an Era as Ozzy Osbourne Takes Final Bow

A Momentous Reunion and Farewell
On July 5th, 2025, the original Black Sabbath lineup – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward – reunited for the first time in 20 years to headline ‘Back to the Beginning’ at Villa Park in Birmingham. The historic show drew 42,000 attendees in person and an additional 3 million viewers via livestream.
Star-Studded Tribute
The event featured an impressive lineup of heavy metal royalty, including Metallica, Alice in Chains, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, and many others. Actor Jason Momoa served as the event’s host, even joining in the festivities by starting a circle pit in the crowd.
A Poignant Performance
Osbourne, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease since 2019, performed while seated on a bat throne adorned with skull designs. The band delivered powerful renditions of classics including ‘War Pigs’ and ‘Paranoid’. ‘I’ve been laid up for like six years. You have no idea how I feel — thank you from the bottom of my heart,’ Osbourne told the emotional crowd.
Legacy and Loss
Tragically, Ozzy Osbourne passed away on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025, with his family by his side. The concert will be immortalized in an upcoming film titled ‘Back to the Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow,’ set for theatrical release in early 2026, serving as a love letter to Ozzy and the pioneering sound of Black Sabbath.
The concert’s profits were donated to several charities, including Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice, ensuring that the final chapter of Black Sabbath’s story would leave a lasting positive impact on their hometown of Birmingham.
