RapidSOS, a leading intelligent safety company, announced platform enhancements in early 2025 to simplify workflows for 911 telecommunicators. This comes at a crucial time, as 82 percent of 911 centers report being critically understaffed.

It requires coordination among various emergency communications, public safety, legislative, and governing entities. In New York State, for example, multiple agencies are involved in the transition, including the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Office of Technology and Innovation, and individual counties.

Governments are providing financial support to upgrade 911 infrastructure, helping local agencies transition to Next Generation 911 and integrate advanced data collection tools.
