UEFA Euro 2024 Qualifiers: Final Three Spots Up for Grabs in March Playoffs

The European Qualifiers for UEFA EURO 2024, which ran from March to November 2023, have already seen 20 teams successfully qualify to join hosts Germany in the tournament.
Current Tournament Structure
From UEFA’s 55 member associations, 53 competed in the qualifying competition, with host team Germany receiving automatic qualification. Russia remained ineligible due to their suspension from FIFA and UEFA competitions.
The qualification format involved a group stage that determined 20 of the 23 teams advancing to the final tournament. The 53 participating UEFA member associations were divided into ten groups, with seven groups containing five teams and three containing six teams.
Group Assignments and Qualified Teams
The final tournament draw has placed the qualified teams into six groups:
– Group A: Germany, Scotland, Hungary, Switzerland
– Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania
– Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England
– Group D: Poland, Netherlands, Austria, France
– Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine
– Group F: Türkiye, Georgia, Portugal, Czechia
Final Stage and Tournament Details
While the main qualifying rounds concluded in November 2023, the remaining three final tournament spots will be determined through play-offs scheduled for March 2024. The tournament itself will kick off in Munich, with the final scheduled to take place in Berlin on 14 July 2024.
Of the 24 teams that have qualified for the tournament, 19 participated in the previous edition. Notable participants include defending champions Italy, runners-up England, 2022 World Cup runners-up France, and bronze medalist Croatia.
Historical Significance
The tournament will utilize nine venues that were previously used for the 2006 FIFA World Cup: Berlin, Dortmund, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Gelsenkirchen. Düsseldorf joins as the tenth venue, having previously hosted matches in the 1974 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 1988.
