Tom Blyth Embraces Lighter Role in Netflix’s ‘People We Meet on Vacation’
From Hunger Games to Romantic Comedy
British actor Tom Blyth is making his Netflix debut in the romantic comedy People We Meet on Vacation, out January 9. The 30-year-old plays Alex, a reserved high school teacher, who spends his summers traveling with his easygoing friend Poppy (Emily Bader), until a falling-out forces them to confront their feelings for each other on one final vacation. This marks a significant shift for the actor who rose to fame playing the villainous young Coriolanus Snow in 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.
A Busy Year of Diverse Projects
The British actor, starring in Netflix’s latest romantic comedy People We Meet On Vacation, is coming off a downright hectic year. Blyth starred in three projects that released in 2025 — Plainclothes, The Fence and Wasteman. Despite this intense workload, Blyth reveals he’s learning to find balance. Blyth revealed that he jumped at the opportunity to star in a romcom. “I was just eager to do something light and fun, and a bit sexy,” he explained, noting his desire for a change of pace after completing several serious dramatic films back-to-back.
Thoughtful Career Choices
The 30-year-old actor has starred in a number of high-profile movies in recent years, including The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and People We Meet on Vacation – but Tom always harbours some doubts about his projects. This careful consideration reflects his commitment to selecting roles that challenge him artistically. “There’s no shame in making a big, beautiful film that makes people laugh and cry and feel all the feelings that lots of people will see. I think that’s as useful and as important as making a Plainclothes, which is like an arthouse gem that not as many people will likely see, but will be moved by.”
Looking Ahead
On January 21, 2025, it was announced that Blyth would star in Claire Denis’ The Fence. With his diverse range from westerns in Billy the Kid to blockbuster franchises and now romantic comedy, Tom Blyth is proving himself as one of Britain’s most versatile young actors. His willingness to embrace different genres whilst maintaining artistic integrity signals a promising career trajectory for readers interested in following emerging talent in contemporary cinema.
