Alison Hammond Takes on Netflix’s Bridgerton Podcast as BBC Show Gets Axed
Beloved TV Presenter Expands Her Broadcasting Empire
British television presenter, media personality, and actress Alison Hammond continues to dominate the UK entertainment landscape with an exciting new venture. Netflix has brought on Great British Bake-Off co-host Alison Hammond to helm the fourth instalment of Bridgerton: The Official Podcast from Shondaland Audio. This marks a significant expansion for the 50-year-old presenter, who has become one of Britain’s most recognisable television faces.
Bridgerton Podcast Role Celebrates Hammond’s Passion
Presented by Netflix and Shondaland, Bridgerton: The Official Podcast will return for its fifth instalment when Season 4, Part 1, drops on Thursday, January 29, hosted by The Great British Baking Show cohost and Bridgerton superfan Alison Hammond. Hammond will host various cast members from Bridgerton Season 4, including the new romantic leads this season, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha. The companion podcast marks the first that will be available to watch on Netflix in the United States and YouTube globally.
Mixed Fortunes: BBC Cancellation and New Opportunities
However, not all news has been positive for the presenter. Alison Hammond’s Big Weekender has been axed, with the 50-year-old presenter’s six-part series seeing her stay with celebrities including Sir Lenny Henry, Luke Evans, Mel B and Perrie Edwards to talk about their lives and careers, but it wasn’t a ratings success. Despite this setback, a BBC spokesman said they are proud of the series and loved working with Alison, whilst there are currently no plans for any new episodes, they are looking forward to working with her again in the future.
Looking Ahead: Hammond’s Career Trajectory
Alison Hammond has continued to cement her place as one of British television’s most popular presenters, hosting ITV’s This Morning and co-presenting The Great British Bake Off. One of her upcoming projects is Channel 4’s Your Song, a new singing competition due to air in the spring, with Sam Ryder and Paloma Faith appearing as mentors. For British television viewers, Hammond’s continued success demonstrates her versatility and enduring appeal across multiple platforms and formats, ensuring she remains a fixture on screens throughout 2026 and beyond.
