Co-op Live: Manchester’s Revolutionary Arena Leads Sustainable Entertainment Revolution

A New Era in Live Entertainment

Co-op Live, Manchester’s groundbreaking indoor arena located in the Etihad Campus, has established itself as a landmark venue, featuring 32 bars, restaurants and lounges, and boasting the largest floor space of any comparable UK arena.

Latest Developments and Expansion

The venue has recently received approval from Manchester City Council for an exciting new canalside development. This expansion will include a two-storey structure housing a café, bar, kitchen, and merchandise store. The space will accommodate approximately 600 people and serve as a second standalone events venue, while also providing pre-event access for ticket-holders and being available for community and private hire use.

Sustainability Leadership

In a significant achievement, Co-op Live has been awarded the prestigious “Highly Commended” certification from A Greener Future, the UK’s authority on event sustainability. This recognition comes after a comprehensive year-long assessment from May 2024 to May 2025, evaluating everything from carbon emissions and energy use to community impact and wellbeing.

The venue operates entirely on renewable energy and employs smart systems to minimize waste and conserve resources. Its innovative design incorporates solar energy and rainwater capture systems. The development has also enhanced the local infrastructure, including a new walking route to the city centre, developed in collaboration with Manchester City Council and Transport for Greater Manchester.

Entertainment Calendar

The venue’s upcoming schedule features an impressive lineup of global artists, including Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performing three nights from May 14, 2025, Olivia Rodrigo’s exclusive UK indoor shows in summer 2025, Robbie Williams performing on June 10-11, Iron Maiden’s performance on June 22, Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball in October, and Billie Eilish’s four-night run as part of her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour in July 2025.

Impact on Manchester

The project has already generated 3,350 construction jobs, with an additional 1,000 roles and apprenticeships created upon completion. As a Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 facility utilizing all-electric power, rainwater collection, and maintaining zero landfill waste, it stands as one of Europe’s most sustainable venues.
