Fire Country Takes Extended Break: What Fans Need to Know About the Season 4 Return

Popular CBS Drama Goes on Extended Hiatus

Fire Country will return with season 4 episodes on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, marking an unusually lengthy break for the popular firefighter drama. The series won’t return for 10 weeks, leaving fans to grapple with the dramatic cliffhangers from the December 19, 2025 midseason finale.

Why the Extended Break Matters

Fire Country is an American action drama television series created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater for CBS, starring Thieriot. Since its premiere in October 2022, the show has built a devoted following with its intense storylines about Cal Fire firefighters and prison inmates working together to combat wildfires in Northern California. While CBS has not given a reason for the lengthy break, the Winter Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 6 to 22. Even though CBS isn’t airing the Winter Olympics, the network has historically opted not to air new episodes of its scripted series during the event.

Explosive Cliffhangers Keep Fans Waiting

The midseason finale left viewers on edge with multiple life-threatening situations. Jake and Malcolm were on the way to an emergency when their fire engine tumbled down the side of the cliff. Meanwhile, Bode went into the middle of a fire to rescue Tyler, but the fire has threatened all around them, and they had to duck for cover and just hope that they could survive. These dramatic moments have left fans anxiously awaiting resolution.

What Season 4 Has Brought So Far

Billy Burke as Vincent ‘Vince’ Leone (seasons 1–3), Bode and Riley’s father, Sharon’s husband and Cal Fire Battalion Chief. It is revealed in the season 4 premiere he perished in the building collapse during the season 3 finale. This major loss has reshaped the dynamics at Station 42, with Manny Perez (Kevin Alejandro) adjusting to life as battalion chief, balancing command with mentorship.

Looking Ahead to February

Instead of this inconsistent schedule, CBS has opted to hold off the returns until after the Games are done, and that means more consistency on the other side as well, since there are plenty of episodes to get us through to May for finale season. For devoted Fire Country fans, the wait until late February will be challenging, but the promise of uninterrupted episodes following the return offers a silver lining to this extended hiatus.
