Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams Expands Horizons with Revolutionary Third Series

Award-Winning Cricket Series Makes Historic Return
The BBC has confirmed the return of the critically acclaimed, BAFTA-nominated and RTS award-winning Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, with the former England cricket captain taking on ‘an even tougher challenge’.
Ambitious New Vision
The project is expanding across the North West of England, with new boys’ teams being formed in Manchester (Newton Heath) and Liverpool (Bootle), alongside a groundbreaking initiative to create Flintoff’s first-ever girls’ team in Blackpool at a club currently without any youth teams.
The coaching team has been strengthened with the addition of current England Women’s international player Kate Cross, who joins Flintoff and former Lancashire fast bowler Kyle Hogg.
Building on Past Success
The journey began in 2022 when Flintoff created a ‘cricket team like no other’ in his hometown of Preston, transforming both a rundown cricket club and the lives of the players in his ‘unlikely’ team. The second series, aired in 2024, saw the team embark on an inspiring cricket tour to India.
Expert Recognition
BBC Documentaries Head of Commissioning, Clare Sillery, has praised Flintoff as ‘an exceptional role model,’ noting the transformational impact his passion for cricket has had on the lives of the young players from Preston.
Broadcast Details
The first episode of the new series will premiere on September 7 at 8:10pm on BBC One, with all episodes subsequently available on iPlayer.
