Aubrey Plaza is set to both produce and star in ‘The Heidi Fleiss Story,’ a biopic about the notorious Hollywood madam who was arrested in the early 1990s for running what was reportedly the world’s largest high-end prostitution ring that implicated Hollywood figures, politicians and other powerful individuals.
The film, which marks the directorial debut of Leah Rachel (creator of Netflix’s ‘Chambers’), is being produced by Pinky Promise. The screenplay, co-written by Rachel Sennott along with Rachel and Travis Jackson, will focus on Fleiss’s pre-trial period, depicting her attempts to navigate Los Angeles while trying to leverage various connections to get her case dismissed.

Today, Fleiss leads a dramatically different life, residing on the outskirts of a small Nevada town where she dedicates her time to rescuing and rehabilitating macaws. She has established a sanctuary that serves as a safe haven for neglected and abused creatures, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable animals.

The upcoming biopic, which has received $2.3 million in California tax credits, is expected to generate over $9 million in qualified expenditures. With a budget under $10 million, the production will span 28 filming days in Riverside County, employing a cast of 41 and a crew of 90.
While Fleiss herself is reportedly pleased with Plaza’s casting, she has stated she won’t be watching the film, expressing a desire to avoid revisiting her past. However, she has promised that the story will be ‘welcomely unfiltered’ and that ‘people will see and hear the truth,’ though she admits ‘some of it is humiliating.’
