Mark Labbett’s Inspiring Journey: From Health Struggles to Television Success in 2025

A Remarkable Transformation
Mark Labbett, who has been a familiar face on The Chase since 2009, has undergone a dramatic transformation, losing 10 stone. The 59-year-old quiz master, known as ‘The Beast’, now weighs just under 19 stone – down from his heaviest weight of 29 stone.
Health Journey and Motivation
Labbett’s weight loss journey has been particularly focused on his health and future. He has managed to drop five trouser sizes by cutting down on sugar and carbs, motivated by the touching goal of watching his son, Lawrence, grow up and graduate from university. As he puts it, “He’ll be 21 when I’m 71, 72, and that’s my mission.” Lawrence, his seven-year-old son, has inherited his father’s mathematical abilities.
Professional Success and Personal Changes
Since 2009, Labbett has been one of the “chasers” on the ITV game show The Chase. His influence extends internationally, having appeared on both Australian and American versions of the show.
Current Lifestyle and Health Management
His transformation has been supported by his Labrador Retriever, Baloo, who has been integral to his fitness journey. As Labbett explained, regular walks with his dog have increased his activity levels significantly. His new lifestyle includes a diet low in sugar and carbohydrates, representing a “complete nutrition overhaul.”
Recent Achievements
In 2025, Labbett has expanded his television presence, making physical appearances on New Generation Wrestling, even getting in the ring and participating in shows. He has also appeared as a special guest on Horrible Histories and joined the Celebs Go Dating agency.
