London’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks Welcome 2026 in Spectacular Fashion
London Celebrates with Europe’s Largest Fireworks Display
Around 100,000 ticketholders lined the banks of the River Thames to enjoy the largest annual firework display in Europe as London welcomed 2026 with its world-renowned New Year’s Eve celebration. More than 12,000 fireworks and over 400 lights illuminated the skyline around the London Eye, following the traditional midnight chimes of Big Ben, whilst millions watched the broadcast worldwide on the BBC.
A Ticketed Event with Sold-Out Success
The Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks has become an iconic ticketed event, with tickets selling out completely for the 2025 celebration. Tickets cost between £20 and £55, depending on whether attendees purchased a ‘Category A Viewing Area’ or a ‘Category B Viewing Area’, and whether they could access a London residents’ discount. Prices increased this year to meet enhanced security requirements under Martyn’s Law, implemented following the Manchester Arena attack in 2017.
Celebrating British Culture and Unity
The display championed what it means to be English and British, including an image of flags representing the wide variety of countries of origin of people who live in and contribute to the success of London, to celebrate our diversity and send a message of unity for 2026. The display included tributes to England’s sporting achievements in 2025, including victories by the Red Roses in the Rugby World Cup and the Lionesses at the European Championships.
Economic Impact and Global Reach
Officials said the annual event attracts thousands of international and domestic visitors and provides a significant economic boost to the capital, with ticket holders estimated to generate about £14 million in additional revenue each year. The spectacular celebration continues to showcase London as a premier global destination, with the fireworks broadcast live to audiences around the world, cementing its status as one of the most watched New Year’s Eve events internationally.
