New Christmas Comedy Brightens Holiday Season

Tinsel Town is a 2025 British christmas comedy film directed by Chris Foggin and starring Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson. The film was first released in the United States in theaters and VOD on 28 November 2025, and was released on Sky Cinema in the United Kingdom on 5 December 2025. The festive film has captured audience attention during the holiday season with its heartwarming story and stellar cast.

Plot and Performances

Tinsel Town centers on Bradley Mack (Sutherland), a washed-up Hollywood action star who heads to a small English village to play a small role in the idiosyncratic Christmas pageant. As he prepares for the show, he bonds with its straight-talking choreographer (Wilson) while taking the opportunity to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Kiefer Sutherland stars in the new holiday comedy “Tinsel Town,” about a washed-up Hollywood actor who lands in a small English town doing a theater production of “Cinderella.”

The film showcases an impressive ensemble cast. They’re joined by Derek Jacobi, Mawaan Rizwan, Maria Friedman, Jason Manford, Asim Chaudhry, Danny Dyer, Fay Fearon, Alice Eve, Lucien Laviscount, James Lance, and Meera Syal as the production’s director, with additional roles played by Savannah Lee Smith, Theodora Williams, Matilda Firth and Eden Hamilton. Sutherland makes it all work, delivering a thoroughly winning performance that makes you buy into the overall hokum.

Yorkshire Filming Locations Add Authenticity

Principal photography took place in Yorkshire in January and February 2025. We filmed the interior of the theatre in Wakefield and built interiors in the fantastic Versa Leeds Studios, then built the world around it in Wetherby and Knaresborough. We shot those scenes in January and February when the Christmas lights were still up. The picturesque Yorkshire locations provide an authentic British backdrop that enhances the film’s charm and holiday atmosphere.

Reception and Holiday Entertainment Value

The film has garnered mixed reviews but maintains appeal for holiday audiences. It’s stuffed to the brim with genre clichés, but a funny script, committed performances, and warm playful tone make this festive comedy hard to resist. For viewers seeking traditional Christmas entertainment, Tinsel Town offers familiar comfort with professional performances from its experienced cast, particularly in showcasing British pantomime traditions to international audiences. The film’s availability on multiple platforms ensures widespread accessibility for families during the festive season.
