Love Actually Cast: Where Are the Stars in 2025?

The Enduring Legacy of Love Actually

Love Actually, the 2003 Christmas romantic comedy written and directed by Richard Curtis, delves into different aspects of love through 10 separate stories involving a variety of individuals. Released in 2003, the ensemble format made its cast feel like a snapshot of British and Hollywood stardom in motion. Twenty-two years later, the film remains a cult film, as it is habitually watched by many people as a holiday staple.

Cast Reunions and Recent Appearances

The Love Actually cast has remained connected over the years. The one official follow-up was the short charity continuation Red Nose Day Actually (2017), written and directed by Curtis for Comic Relief. A number of cast members reunited nearly two decades later for a one-hour reunion special titled ‘The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later’, which aired in November 2022.

Most recently, in November 2025, Martine McCutcheon and Thomas Brodie-Sangster reunited for a hilarious Google Pixel Christmas advertisement titled ‘It’s Pixel, Actually’. The advert cleverly recreates iconic moments from the original film whilst promoting the Pixel 10 Pro.

Where the Stars Are Today

The cast members have pursued remarkable careers since 2003. Emma Thompson remains an awards-level lead and has embraced more physically demanding work, including her 2025 action-thriller turn in Dead of Winter. Colin Firth continues mixing film and TV, including the 2025 drama Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, whilst Keira Knightley has stayed in the top tier of adult leads, with her recent run including Netflix’s spy series Black Doves.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster grew into major TV and film work, and he married actor Talulah Riley in June 2024. Bill Nighy stays in steady demand, whilst Martin Freeman went on to star in the Hobbit movie trilogy, Sherlock and Fargo, plus numerous MCU properties, and most recently starred in 2024’s thrillers Miller’s Girl and Queen of Bones and 2025’s Momo.

Tragically, Alan Rickman died in 2016, and later anniversary coverage has treated his absence as one of the film’s most felt gaps.

Why Love Actually Still Matters

The film’s cultural impact extends beyond entertainment. Bill Nighy has spoken about how strongly audiences connect with the film, noting people have told him it got them through chemotherapy, divorce, or times when they were alone. Despite being highly divisive amongst critics and audiences, the film continues to introduce itself to new generations through streaming platforms.

As we celebrate Christmas 2025, Love Actually remains a testament to the enduring power of ensemble storytelling and the universal appeal of love in all its forms. In the US, it commonly appears seasonally on Peacock and Prime Video, ensuring fresh audiences discover this festive classic for years to come.
