Scotland Draw Brazil, Morocco and Haiti in 2026 World Cup Group Stage
Scotland’s Historic World Cup Draw Revealed
Scotland will face five-time winners Brazil, Morocco and Haiti at the 2026 World Cup, following Friday’s draw ceremony in Washington, DC. Scotland are set for their first FIFA World Cup appearance in 28 years, making this a momentous occasion for Scottish football fans who have waited nearly three decades for their team’s return to the global stage.
Group C Line-up and Fixtures
Steve Clarke’s men have been placed in Group C of the competition after the draw ceremony was conducted in Washington, DC on Friday evening. The fixtures offer Scotland both immense challenges and historical reunions. Steve Clarke’s side open their campaign against Haiti on Saturday June 13 in Boston or New Jersey-New York, followed by 2022 semi-finalists Morocco on Friday June 19, in Boston or Philadelphia, with their final group game against Brazil on Wednesday, June 24 in Atlanta or Miami.
Historical Significance and Manager’s Response
Scotland have been handed a nostalgic return to the World Cup as they face Brazil and Morocco in Group C – two teams they faced on their last appearance at the tournament in 1998. Manager Steve Clarke remained optimistic about the draw. “It’s a good draw,” Clarke told STV. “I didn’t want any European teams, I wanted teams from different continents, and we got that”.
Challenges Ahead for the Tartan Army
Brazil are the only nation that Scotland have faced more than three times in their entire history without ever winning, losing eight of their 10 meetings in all competitions. Despite the formidable opponents, Scotland will be the favourites to beat Caribbean nation Haiti in their opener as both sides meet for the first time. The top two in each group go through to the next round, along with the eight best third-placed sides – meaning Scotland have a golden opportunity to get to the Round of 32. The Tartan Army will hope Clarke’s squad can spring surprises and progress from what many consider a challenging but navigable group.
