Strahinja Pavlović: From Salzburg Success to AC Milan Mainstay

Rising Serbian Defender Making His Mark

Strahinja Pavlović, the 24-year-old Serbian centre-back currently playing for AC Milan, has been making waves in Serie A since his €18.00m transfer from Red Bull Salzburg.

Recent International Success

In Serbia’s recent World Cup qualifier against Latvia, Pavlović delivered a masterclass performance, leading the statistics with 74 completed passes and 4 successful dribbles, while winning seven out of nine duels. The victory has helped Serbia accumulate seven points in Group K as they pursue group leaders England, who currently hold twelve points with an extra game played.

Club Career Development

Pavlović has established himself as a distinctive defender, combining aggressive defending with aerial prowess and remarkable speed despite his imposing 194cm frame. His offensive capabilities have also been noteworthy, with 16 career goals to his name.

Current Form at AC Milan

The Serbian defender has already set a new personal record this season, contributing three goal involvements (two goals and one assist) in 21 Serie A appearances, including 18 starts. His unique profile as the squad’s only left-footed defender makes him particularly valuable, especially when the team employs a three-man defensive line.

International Experience

Pavlović has accumulated 38 caps for Serbia and was a key figure in both the recent European Championship in Germany and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. According to Serbia Head Coach Dragan Stojković, during Euro 2024, Pavlović sought advice about his future, with Stojković recommending AC Milan as his destination, noting that ‘Serie A is like a university for defenders.’ The player was already convinced that an Italian experience would be beneficial for his career.
