ARC Raiders Expedition Concludes First Season Amid Player Controversy

Understanding the ARC Raiders Expedition System

The first ARC Raiders Expedition ran from December 17 to December 22, functioning as a character progression reset that ‘wipes’ all of your progress for permanent rewards. This Expedition system is the game’s take on a seasonal wipe, albeit a fairly different one from what’s seen in other extraction games, as ARC Raiders’ wipes are not mandatory. By departing in the Caravan constructed in the Expedition Project, players restart their journey with certain buffs and advantages.

Player Reactions and Disappointment

The first ARC Raiders Expedition mode is finally coming to an end, and many players are regretting resetting their characters’ progression, saying the character progression system isn’t ultimately worth doing. Many are angered to discover that their Workshop Stations, which they thought would remain available, must be rebuilt and relevelled. Users who participated in the first Expedition were given the Patchwork outfit as a bonus reward, however, many are saying the outfit is bland and lacks options.

Cutscene Controversy and Lore Questions

ARC Raiders’ first wipe ends with a unique cutscene that’s supposed to show players how the Expedition Project concludes, though it has since become a source of confusion and wild theories within the community. There are currently hundreds of reports from players claiming that ARC Raiders’ Expedition Project cutscene was glitched or randomly skipped on their accounts, with no way to rewatch it.

Looking Ahead: The Next Expedition

ARC Raiders players may not have long to wait for the next Expedition, with an in-game countdown hinting at a February 22 reset window. Those completing the Expedition Project have noticed that they can start building their next Expedition caravan instantly, meaning they’ll work through the phases all over again. Despite the mixed reception of the inaugural Expedition, developer Embark Studios continues to refine this innovative approach to seasonal content, offering players the choice to participate while providing both permanent and temporary rewards for those who do.
