ARC Raiders First Person Mode Discovered by Player, Then Swiftly Removed
Breaking Ground in Third-Person Territory
ARC Raiders took the world by storm back in 2025 with the brand-new extraction shooter offering the genre that much-needed competition. Developed by Embark Studios, the same studio behind The Finals, ARC Raiders is an extraction shooter which allows players to enter maps either solo or in teams of two or three in order to collect some much-needed equipment and materials and most importantly, get out alive. The game has maintained its popularity through regular updates and strong community engagement.
The First-Person Mode Discovery
Over the weekend, one Arc Raiders player managed to crack into a forbidden first-person mode using console commands. Using console commands on PC to alter the position of their in-game camera, Reddit user Short_Satisfaction_9 recorded and shared some gameplay showing a facsimile of ARC Raiders in first-person. The player described the experience as “surreal,” noting that “the ARC felt so terrifying.”
Community Response and Developer Action
With just a third-person mode available, some players have requested the chance to try out ARC Raiders in first-person for a chance to make the already tense gameplay all the more immersive. However, the discovery came with complications. This console command also allows players to get rid of fog and darkness, among other obstacles, which is why Embark patched it out. Community manager Ossen confirmed in an official Discord post that they “have just pushed a hotfix removing the ‘NewConsole’ command.”
What This Means for the Game’s Future
Addition of a first-person mode has been a regular topic of discussion among ARC Raiders players since it launched, but there has so far been no official indication from Embark Studios that one will be added. Adding a first-person mode also runs the risk of dividing the player base even further than the aggression-based matchmaking already does. While the brief glimpse into first-person gameplay fascinated many players, it appears the developers remain committed to their original third-person vision, prioritising game balance and the intended player experience over individual perspective preferences.
