Timothy Busfield Surrenders to Police Amid Child Sex Abuse Allegations

Emmy Winner Faces Serious Allegations

Emmy Award-winning actor Timothy Busfield turned himself to authorities on Tuesday to face child sex abuse charges in New Mexico. The 68-year-old actor, known for his roles in ‘Thirtysomething,’ ‘The West Wing,’ and ‘Field of Dreams,’ is confronting allegations that have shaken the entertainment industry.

The Charges and Investigation

Busfield is charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse, according to the Bernalillo County District Attorney. His apprehension comes after authorities in Albuquerque issued a warrant for his arrest on Friday on two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.

The abuse is alleged to have taken place between November 2022 and spring 2024, whilst Busfield was directing episodes of the Fox television show ‘The Cleaning Lady.’ One of the boys told police that the first time Busfield touched him was when he was 7 years old, according to the criminal complaint. The boy said the second time was when he was 8 years old.

Busfield Denies Allegations

The actor has vigorously denied the accusations. In a statement shared with Fox News Digital, Busfield’s civil attorney, Stanton ‘Larry’ Stein, said, ‘This morning, Tim voluntarily appeared before New Mexico authorities after traveling across the country to confront these false and deeply troubling allegations.’ Busfield is being held without bail, jail records show.

Industry Response and Supporting Evidence

NBC has yanked a new episode of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ that was to air this week … because it features Timothy Busfield, who’s facing child sex abuse charges. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. commissioned a law firm to conduct an independent investigation into complaints made against Busfield, reported in February 2025, but was not able to find any evidence to corroborate the allegations.

Gilbert’s representative told Fox News Digital that the actress will continue to support her husband and will address the public at the appropriate time. As this case unfolds, it highlights the ongoing challenges facing the entertainment industry in protecting vulnerable individuals whilst ensuring due process for the accused.
