Ferrari Honours Niki Lauda’s Legacy with Historic 50th Anniversary Tribute at Monza

A Historic Tribute to a Racing Legend

Ferrari has unveiled a special 50th anniversary livery for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, paying tribute to the late Niki Lauda. The design commemorates Lauda’s first Drivers’ title, which he secured with a third-place finish at Monza in 1975.

The Special Design Elements

The SF-25’s livery has been transformed to mirror its 1975 predecessor in several ways:
– White-painted engine cover
– White-framed driver numbers
– White stripes along the car’s flanks
– Silver-colored front and rear wings (matching the original 312T’s aluminium parts)
– Specially designed wheel covers replicating the 1975 car

Team Celebration

The tribute extends beyond the car, with Ferrari personnel wearing special blue team apparel and the drivers donning specially designed overalls, shoes, and helmets. Both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will wear race suits styled after Lauda’s original 1975 design.

Lauda’s Lasting Legacy

Lauda remains firmly established in the pantheon of F1 greats, recognized as one of the best drivers not just of his generation, but of all time. His legacy in F1 folklore, both on and off the track, is nearly unmatched.

His remarkable career statistics speak for themselves: three World Championships, 25 wins, and 24 pole positions from 171 Grands Prix.

Special Significance

The 1975 Monza race was particularly special as Lauda’s teammate Clay Regazzoni won the race itself, making it a double celebration. The tribute holds additional meaning for Lewis Hamilton, who shared a special friendship with Lauda – the man who convinced him to join Mercedes in 2013. Hamilton previously honored Lauda by wearing a replica of his famous red helmet design during his victory at the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.
