Aitch and Shona: Inside I’m A Celebrity’s Most Talked-About Friendship

The Jungle Friendship That Captivated Viewers

The 2025 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! has given viewers plenty to talk about, but no storyline has generated more buzz than the rumoured romance between rapper Aitch and EastEnders actress Shona McGarty. As the reality show reaches its dramatic conclusion, the relationship between these two celebrities has become one of the most scrutinised aspects of this year’s series.

When Romance Rumours Began

Romance speculation first began when Aitch admitted to his pal Ginge: “I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shona, me”. The confession sparked immediate interest among fans, with many viewers shipping the pair despite their nine-year age gap. Aitch is 25, while Shona is 34, but both stars entered the jungle as newly single individuals looking for a fresh start.

Both celebrities were newly single, with Aitch having split from psychology student Lois Cottam before entering the jungle, whilst Shona ended her engagement to Irish musician David Bracken just weeks before the show. The timing seemed perfect for a potential jungle romance to blossom.

The Reality Behind The Rumours

Despite the excitement from viewers and even hosts Ant and Dec commenting on their “flirty” behaviour, the truth appears far less romantic. According to evicted campmates Eddie and Alex, there’s literally nothing romantic between them at all. Former contestant Ruby Wax provided the most definitive answer, revealing that Shona confided in her during unaired footage, telling her straight: “He’s not my type”.

Alex Scott explained that Aitch saying he had a “soft spot” for Shona wasn’t in a flirty way, it was just him being proud of her overcoming her anxieties. The friendship between the pair appears to be based on genuine mutual support rather than romantic attraction.

Aitch’s Elimination and Shona’s Final Journey

Aitch became the latest campmate to leave the jungle, meaning that Angry Ginge, Shona McGarty and Tom Read Wilson are the finalists. Upon his elimination, Aitch took his defeat in typical good humour, stating: “I love Shona to death, if she gets it she deserves it”, though he confirmed his support was ultimately for his friend Ginge to win.

The 25th season of the ITV reality show will conclude on Sunday, December 7, with Shona McGarty, Angry Ginge and Tom Read Wilson contesting the final. While the Aitch and Shona romance may have been wishful thinking from fans, their genuine friendship has been one of the highlights of the series, demonstrating that meaningful connections in the jungle don’t always have to be romantic.
