Buckinghamshire’s Commitment to Infrastructure and Community

Buckinghamshire continues to demonstrate its commitment to residents through significant investment and community-focused initiatives. The county council has announced a £120 million investment in roads across Buckinghamshire over the next four years, addressing the essential need for safe, accessible, and well-maintained highways throughout the region.

This substantial infrastructure commitment comes at a crucial time for the county, as Buckinghamshire’s population is projected to grow by 10.8% over the next 20 years, exceeding the national figure of 9.2%. The increasing population brings both opportunities and challenges for local authorities and residents alike.

Expanding Services for Vulnerable Residents

Demonstrating its dedication to the county’s most vulnerable residents, Buckinghamshire Council will shortly open its third new children’s home as part of its transformation programme to provide quality, nurturing, local places to live for children and young people in care. This expansion reflects the council’s proactive approach to ensuring high-quality care provision within the local community.

Healthcare services are also seeing significant developments. A launch event was held on 13 November 2025, to formally open the refurbished ophthalmology facilities in the Mandeville Wing at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, improving access to essential eye care services for residents.

Buckinghamshire Council has taken the top spot in the Modeshift STARS leaderboard for large local authorities, recognising its outstanding work in promoting sustainable travel to school. This achievement highlights the county’s commitment to environmental sustainability and healthy lifestyles for young people.

Looking ahead, the Director of Public Health’s Annual Report focuses on supporting residents to live healthy and happy lives, highlighting the need for action that is targeted, preventative and partnership focused.
