Prince William’s September Return: New Home, Royal Duties, and Family Updates

Royal Return and New Beginnings

The Prince and Princess of Wales have returned to official duties after their summer break, marking a significant moment in the royal calendar. This return is particularly meaningful as it follows Catherine’s recovery from cancer treatment in 2024.

Historic Move to Forest Lodge

The royal family is relocating from their four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage to the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, which will serve as their long-term residence, even after William becomes King. This Georgian mansion boasts impressive features including Venetian windows, marble fireplaces, and stucco mouldings, complemented by extensive grounds featuring an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and 58 acres of land with lakes, stables, and a rose garden.

September Royal Engagements

On September 10th, Prince William will be in Cardiff to inaugurate a new mental health hub by the Jac Lewis Foundation, supported by the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales. The couple recently visited the Natural History Museum’s newly transformed gardens in London, where they engaged with children and young people participating in programs focused on connecting with nature and enhancing urban biodiversity.

Family Focus and Future Vision

William and Catherine continue to prioritize providing Prince George, now 12, with a normal childhood while preparing him for his future royal responsibilities. William has expressed his commitment to doing things differently for his generation, suggesting a more modern approach to monarchy, notably describing his vision as having a “smaller ‘r’ in the Royal”.

Looking Forward

With the summer break concluded, the royal autumn diaries are filling up with engagements. The increased level of activity signals a return to full strength for the royal family, demonstrating their commitment to public service and modernizing the monarchy.
