Northampton Saints Continue Strong Form with Dominant Champions Cup Victory
Saints Crush Bulls in European Competition
Northampton Saints secured their second consecutive Pool 4 victory with an impressive 50-5 triumph over South African side Bulls at cinch Stadium on 14 December 2025. The commanding performance showcased the depth and quality within Phil Dowson’s squad as they continue their European campaign.
George Hendy finished with a hat-trick of tries and Ollie Sleightholme crossed twice, whilst Henry Pollock, Alex Coles and Sleightholme added further scores. The 20-year-old Pollock has been particularly impressive, with his outstanding performance underlining why he is considered one of English rugby’s brightest prospects.
Financial Success Off the Pitch
The club’s recent success extends beyond the playing field. Underlying turnover rose to £23.5m – an increase of £1.6m (+7%) year-on-year, driven by strong commercial performance and on-pitch success. Chairman Ella Bevan attributed this growth to multiple factors, including a strong run in Europe, nine home sell-out fixtures, and a record number of England EPS selections.
The Club maintains a strong balance sheet with net assets of £20.6m at 30 June 2025, and their cash balance of £4.2m represents a £1.7m improvement compared to the previous year.
Securing the Future
Northampton Saints have taken significant steps to ensure continuity at the top level. Director of rugby Phil Dowson, head coach Sam Vesty, and assistant coach James Craig have all signed contract extensions. The trio have overseen one of the most successful periods in recent Saints history, delivering the 2024 Gallagher Premiership title and reaching the 2025 Investec Champions Cup Final.
Looking Ahead
With strong performances on the pitch, solid financial management, and leadership continuity secured, Northampton Saints are well-positioned for continued success. The club faces crucial European fixtures ahead, including a rematch against Bordeaux in January. For Saints supporters and rugby enthusiasts, the combination of emerging talent like Henry Pollock alongside experienced internationals suggests Franklin’s Gardens will remain a formidable venue for opposition teams throughout the 2025-26 season.
