Fallon Sherrock: The Queen of the Palace Returns to Alexandra Palace

Historic Darting Pioneer Returns to the World Stage

Fallon Sherrock has returned to Alexandra Palace for her sixth appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship, where she remains the only woman to have won a match on this prestigious stage since breaking the glass ceiling in 2020. The 31-year-old English darts player, known affectionately as the ‘Queen of the Palace’, faced Dave Chisnall on 18 December 2025 in a highly anticipated first-round clash.

Health Battles and Recovery

Sherrock has endured a challenging period, with health concerns prompting consideration of a competitive hiatus. She has required medication for kidney problems that developed after the birth of her son Rory in 2014. Over the summer, Sherrock admitted she had been weighing up a break from darts after an undisclosed illness left her struggling with low energy, but the 31-year-old now insists her health is improving as she looks to rediscover her best form.

Speaking about her recovery, Sherrock stated: “I feel 100 per cent better than what I did”, expressing optimism about her return to competitive form and hoping to recapture the magic that made her a household name.

Recent Performance and Tournament Result

In her match against Chisnall, the 21st seed’s doubling was the difference as he earned a straight sets first-round win over Sherrock at the world championship, with Chizzy achieving a 47 per cent success rate on his doubles while the ‘Queen of the Palace’ was left rueing missed opportunities. Sherrock closed with just a 13 per cent success rate on doubles, highlighting the finishing difficulties that cost her the match.

Legacy and Significance for Women’s Darts

Fallon Sherrock became the first woman to win a PDC World Darts Championship match in 2019, and six years ago, she smashed through barriers at the PDC World Darts Championship, becoming the first woman to win a match on that stage—an achievement that sent ripples across the sport and inspired a new generation. Sherrock was appointed Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2023 Birthday Honours for services to darts.

There’s a sense of relief for Sherrock this time around, with the spotlight firmly fixed elsewhere. “Yes, under the radar – I’ve never been the person to be the face of women’s darts,” Sherrock admitted, noting that now Beau Greaves is garnering attention, she can “just going to enjoy myself, relax, and go under the radar again”.

Looking Forward

Despite the setback at Alexandra Palace, Sherrock remains a pioneering figure in darts who opened doors for future generations of female players. Her resilience in overcoming health challenges while competing at the highest level continues to inspire fans worldwide. As women’s darts continues to grow in prominence, Sherrock’s legacy as the trailblazer who first proved women could compete and win at the World Championship remains secure.
