MetLife Stadium’s Historic 2025 Season: Record-Breaking Events and World Cup Preparations

Record-Breaking Year at MetLife Stadium
MetLife Stadium is experiencing an unprecedented year of success, hosting a record 40 events and attracting nearly 2 million fans before the NFL regular season begins on September 7. This remarkable achievement surpasses previous records set in 2023, which saw 25 events, 18 concerts, and 1.3 million fans.
Major Events and Achievements
The stadium recently hosted the FIFA Club World Cup, featuring nine matches including a thrilling final where Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 before 81,118 fans on July 13.
Another milestone was achieved with WWE SummerSlam on August 2-3, 2025, which drew an impressive 113,722 fans over two nights, making it the most successful SummerSlam in WWE history.
The stadium’s concert lineup has been equally impressive, featuring sold-out performances by major artists including Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Beyoncé (who became the stadium’s highest-selling artist with five shows), The Weeknd, and Zach Bryan. The venue even managed to host four concerts in five days – a first in stadium history.
Future Preparations and Developments
Looking ahead, MetLife Stadium, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with its 82,500-seat capacity, continues to serve as home to both the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets while preparing for even bigger events. The stadium is set to play a crucial role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosting eight matches, including the prestigious final on July 19, 2026.
To prepare for this global event, the stadium is undergoing significant modifications, including the removal of 1,740 permanent seats from the lower bowl corners to accommodate FIFA’s field width requirements for the tournament’s final match.
