Jackie Woodburne Returns in Thrilling New Drama ‘The Imposter’

Neighbours Star Takes Centre Stage in Channel 5’s Latest Thriller

Dannii Minogue is making her return to acting for a new Channel 5 drama called Imposter, starring alongside Kym Marsh and Jackie Woodburne. Former Neighbours star Jackie Woodburne heads up the brand new series in her first role on screens since departing the Aussie soap. The eagerly anticipated four-part series premiered on 15 December 2025, bringing together three of soap’s most iconic actresses.

The Plot: Family Secrets and Deadly Deception

The series focuses on matriarch Helen, played by Jackie Woodburne, who refuses to sell her seaside hotel amid pressure from her three children. Helen also has a secret – an older child, Amanda, who she gave up for adoption in the UK before the other kids were born. When Amanda turns up out of the blue, Helen embraces her, believing she is the answer to her problems.

However, all is not as it seems. Amanda is actually an imposter, out to dupe Helen out of the family fortune – in a plot that will lead to murder. Claire arrives in Australia pretending to be Amanda, the long-lost daughter of Helen, hoping for a slice of some inheritance. This twisted tale of betrayal and greed promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

A Stellar Soap Reunion

Jackie played Susan Kennedy in the Australian soap from the very first series in 1994 and until the very last episodes in 2025. Her portrayal of the beloved character made her a household name across Australia and beyond. Now, she brings that same depth and experience to her role as Helen in The Imposter.

Kym Marsh, Dannii Minogue, and Jackie Woodburne lead the cast of the four-part series, filmed in beautiful Australia. The Imposter will return to screens at 9pm on Tuesday (December 16), Wednesday (December 17), and the finale will air at 9pm on Thursday evening (December 18).

Why This Drama Matters

The Imposter represents a significant moment for television audiences, reuniting beloved soap stars in a gripping psychological thriller. For Jackie Woodburne fans, it offers a chance to see the actress in a completely different role following her three-decade tenure on Neighbours. The series explores timely themes of family loyalty, identity, and the lengths people will go to for financial security, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking viewing for audiences across the UK.
