Rachel from The Traitors: The Strategic Player Dominating Season Four
The Rise of a Strategic Player
Rachel Duffy has emerged as a major player in season four of The Traitors, after receiving a tap on the shoulder from host Claudia Winkleman to become one of the original Traitors. The 42-year-old from County Down in Northern Ireland is married with three children, and she’s bringing a unique combination of preparation and competitive spirit to the game.
Rachel has spent 15 years honing her skills by playing Mafia, a game strikingly similar to The Traitors, describing herself as a competitive person through and through. Her preparation went beyond casual gameplay—she undertook FBI training by studying online classes from an ex-FBI agent, learning to read micro expressions, swallow patterns, and blink rates.
A Calculated Game Plan
Rachel’s approach to the game has been nothing short of masterful. Keeping fellow players on the back foot is the key to being a successful Traitor, and Rachel knows it, playing both a calculated and unpredictable game never seen before in the BBC series’ history. She’s spending more time buddying up to the Faithfuls than her fellow Traitors, even shedding real tears when her ‘favourite person’ Amanda was banished.
During a roundtable, Rachel used a stunt tactic to trip up Ross by asking if Hugo was dramatic in the turret, leaving Ross genuinely baffled and struggling for a convincing response despite being completely innocent. Her manipulation skills extend to information gathering—she managed to get an unprompted confession from Amanda about her policing past, then shared that secret to throw heat on Amanda’s prime suspects.
Drama and Confrontation
The game has taken a dramatic turn as tensions rise between Rachel and fellow Traitor Fiona. Fiona made the accusation that Rachel is a Traitor to fellow contestants, despite the fact that both Rachel and Fiona are actually Traitors. Fiona admitted that Rachel’s tactics were ‘messing with my head’, demonstrating how Rachel’s strategic gameplay is affecting even her own team members.
Rachel is working alongside Stephen Libby and secret traitor Fiona Hughes, after Hugo Lodge was already discovered and banished. Rachel has shown she’s willing to throw another Traitor under the bus if necessary, openly admitting she can’t ‘come right out and defend’ Stephen.
Playing for Family
The communications manager hopes to win the prize fund of up to £120,000 to spend on making memories with her children and mum who has dementia. Rachel wants to take her mum on holiday, something she used to do before Rachel’s dad passed, and create memories with her children who love their grandmother.
As The Traitors continues to air three nights a week on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, viewers are witnessing Rachel’s extraordinary gameplay unfold. Whether her calculated strategy will lead to victory or her own downfall remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—Rachel Duffy has become one of the most compelling contestants in the show’s history.
