Landman Season 2 Smashes Records as Paramount+ Confirms Season 3 Renewal

Record-Breaking Success for Landman Season 2

The second season of Landman got off to a rousing start, bringing in over nine million viewers in its first two days available for streaming, marking a remarkable achievement for Taylor Sheridan’s Texas oil drama. The Nov. 16 premiere nabbed the biggest season or series premiere in Paramount+’s history with 9.2 million views worldwide over its first few days, more than tripling last year’s series debut. This exceptional performance represents a 262% increase in viewership from the premiere of Season 1 to Season 2, cementing the show’s status as one of the streaming platform’s most successful original series.

Early Season 3 Renewal Announced

In response to these impressive numbers, “Landman” has been renewed for Season 3 at Paramount+. The renewal news comes as the oil industry drama has aired just three episodes of its second season, with the fourth episode due to air on Dec. 7. The swift decision underscores the network’s confidence in the series’ continued success and viewer appeal.

What’s Happening in Season 2

The current season continues to deliver compelling storylines that resonate with audiences. Season 2 of “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s latest macho show about tough guys with wounded hearts, is treading the path the series began in Season 1, albeit with one key difference: This time around, the Paramount+ series has more of a focus on Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) and his dysfunctional family. One of the most emotional episodes of ‘Landman’ just aired in season 2, episode 4, where Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy details the painful abuse he suffered as a childhood due to his mother’s addiction.

In season 2, Landman made the great decision to add veteran talents Sam Elliott and Andy Garcia to the series. In just three episodes so far, their roles have already bolstered the strong foundation that Thornton and Sheridan established in the first season.

Looking Ahead to Season 3

The future looks bright for Landman fans. Thornton, when speaking about how he signed a multi-year deal for four-to-five years of the series, told THR he wants to do Landman “as long as I’m able” or until the story runs out. Landman season 3 is expected to premiere in November 2026, according to Wallace, who said the plan is not to keep audiences waiting too long and maintain the same break they did between seasons 1 and 2. Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes, with the season 2 finale airs on January 18, 2026, giving viewers plenty to look forward to before the next season arrives.
