Rachel from The Traitors UK: A Strategic Mind Under Fire
The Rise of Rachel Duffy on The Traitors UK
Rachel Duffy is an Original Traitor from The Traitors (UK) Series 4, and she has quickly become one of the most talked-about contestants this season. Hailing from County Down in Northern Ireland, Rachel is currently 42 years old and works as a communications manager. She has spent 15 years honing her skills by playing Mafia, a game strikingly similar to The Traitors, making her one of the most prepared contestants in the castle.
Keeping your fellow players on the back foot is the key to being a successful Traitor – and Rachel knows it, which is why she’s playing both a calculated – and unpredictable – game never seen before in the BBC series’ history. Her strategic approach has included everything from using stunt tactics to try and trip up innocent players, such as asking Ross “Was Hugo that dramatic in the turret?” after Hugo was outed as a traitor.
Rachel Faces Her Biggest Challenge Yet
In recent episodes, Rachel’s dominance has been threatened. Harriet outed Rachel as a Traitor during a confessional challenge, creating the most significant threat to Rachel’s game. While Rachel has always held her nerve in previous episodes, this time was different as she told Stephen that Harriet was “scaring the life out of me”.
Harriet worked out Rachel’s identity but failed to convince the group and was banished, allowing Rachel to survive another day. However, her previously confident – slightly cocky, even – behaviour seemed to fade as Rachel appeared to have lost all hope of surviving during the round table discussions.
What’s Next for Rachel?
Rachel and Stephen opted for murder from a possible three of Jessie, Adam or James, but the backstabbing pair did not know that James had secretly taken a shield to protect him from murder. This gamble could prove disastrous if they selected the wrong victim.
For Rachel, she’d use her winnings to make memories with the most important people in her life, particularly her mum who has dementia and wants to go on a holiday. Whether Rachel can hold her nerve and claim the prize remains to be seen, but Newry residents have backed their “strategic” local Traitor Rachel Duffy to the hilt, saying she is “playing a blinder”.
