The Chase: ITV Announces Christmas Specials and Exciting New Spin-Off for 2025

The Chase Continues to Dominate British Television

The Chase, fronted by Bradley Walsh, is ITV’s biggest quiz show. It’s been on our screens since 2009 and the format where the professional quiz players known as The Chasers try to chase down the contestants to stop them from winning is simply brilliant. As the show continues its impressive run, ITV has announced several exciting developments for viewers to enjoy during the festive season and beyond.

Christmas Specials Coming This December

The Chase: The Bloopers will return to ITV for another special, featuring hilarious outtakes from the hit daytime quiz. Plus, The Chase’s annual Christmas special will be returning later this year, however it seems only one episode rather than the traditional two episodes. The special will see four celebrities take on the Chasers, who are traditionally in fancy dress, with the aim of winning thousands of pounds for their chosen charities. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the famous contestants must answer general knowledge questions and play their tactics right in order to get themselves into the Final Chase, where they could win a cash pot worth thousands for their charities.

The Chase Around The World Commissioned

In a major announcement, The Chase Around The World is set for a full series on ITV, following a pilot earlier this year. The series is a primetime reality competition spin-off to daytime staple quiz The Chase. Details on specific format points are being kept under wraps, but TV Zone understands the show will involve pairs of contestants answering questions and solving puzzles whilst travelling around the world to be in with a chance of winning a huge cash prize.

Significance for Viewers and the Future

In January 2021, The Chase managed a peak audience of more than 5 million, an all-time high. Almost every episode is now seen by between 4 and 5 million viewers, and regularly features on ITV’s Top 15 weekly broadcasts. The show’s enduring popularity demonstrates Britain’s appetite for quality quiz entertainment. Beat The Chasers has also been recommissioned for an eighth series to air next year. With multiple formats now confirmed for 2025 and 2026, The Chase franchise continues to expand, ensuring that fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch contestants take on the six chasers: Mark Labbett (The Beast), Shaun Wallace (The Black Destroyer), Anne Hegerty (The Governess), Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen), and Darragh Ennis (The Menace) across various exciting formats.
