Sheridan Smith Takes Centre Stage in Woman in Mind West End Revival
Acclaimed Actress Returns to London Theatre
Acclaimed, award-winning star Sheridan Smith returns to the West End stage this winter, in a major new revival of Alan Ayckbourn’s classic comedy Woman in Mind. The production is playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 9 December 2025 to 28 February 2026.
Sheridan Smith stars as Susan, joined by Romesh Ranganathan as Bill, marking his West End stage debut. The psychological comedy explores themes of fractured reality with both heart and humour, showcasing Smith’s remarkable range as a performer.
A Year of Powerful Performances
Smith’s return to the West End follows an emotionally demanding role in ITV’s acclaimed drama I Fought the Law. Smith stars in ITV’s four-part drama I Fought the Law as Ann Ming, an English woman whose 22-year-old daughter was murdered in 1989. Smith admitted she was left “a shaking mess” after taking on her latest role in ITV’s harrowing drama, explaining it was “emotionally taxing for nine weeks.”
The role required immense emotional depth, as Ming fought for 15 years to overturn the UK’s 800-year-old Double Jeopardy Law after her daughter’s killer was wrongfully acquitted. Smith’s dedication to authentic portrayal left audiences and critics alike impressed by her commitment to honouring real-life stories.
Looking Ahead: New Projects on the Horizon
Sheridan Smith is set to star in new BBC drama The Cage, which will start filming in March 2025 and will air on BBC One. While plot details remain under wraps, the project adds to Smith’s impressive portfolio of challenging roles.
Two-time Olivier Award winner Sheridan Smith makes a triumphant return to the stage in Alan Ayckbourn’s darkly comic psychological drama Woman in Mind. Her continued success across stage, television, and film cements her position as one of Britain’s most versatile and beloved performers. For theatre enthusiasts and fans alike, Smith’s latest West End appearance offers an unmissable opportunity to witness her exceptional talent in a production that promises both laughter and profound insight into the human psyche.
