British Airways Expands Global Network with New Routes and Enhanced Services

The airline has announced major route expansions for summer 2026, whilst investing £100m in improving operational resilience, achieving 86 per cent of its flights on time from London Heathrow in the first quarter of 2025. Ambitious Route Expansion for 2026

Launching on 14 May 2026, British Airways will begin operating flights from London Heathrow to Tivat, Montenegro, with service running three times a week during the summer season. Additionally, the airline will operate daily flights to Guernsey beginning on 19 April 2026, marking a significant expansion of connectivity to the Channel Islands.

Long-haul services are also receiving substantial enhancements. British Airways has confirmed year-round flights from London Gatwick to Bangkok, operating three times per week in summer 2026 and six weekly flights during winter. The expansion extends to the Caribbean, where an additional weekly service to Kingston, Jamaica, from London Gatwick has been announced. Middle Eastern routes are seeing remarkable growth, with British Airways offering a daily service from Heathrow to Bahrain, more than doubling weekly frequencies.

Leadership Changes and Operational Excellence

The airline faces a period of transition at senior management level. Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer, will officially leave British Airways at the end of March 2026, with internal sources indicating he has already stepped back from day-to-day responsibilities, with no recruitment process yet underway for a replacement.

Despite leadership transitions, British Airways maintains strong operational performance through technological innovation. In 2023, the airline announced a major £7bn investment programme, including a £100m investment in digital tools and apps designed to boost operational performance.
